Avène Hydrance Optimale Light Hydrating Cream ★ Review

Avène Hydrance Optimale is a  face moisturizer with SPF 20 rich in Avène thermal spring water.

This cream is meant for sensitive and intolerant skin and is available in two different formulation: one for normal to combination skin (which is the one I have, the “UV LIGHT”) and one for dryer skin, called “UV RICH”.

I have quite sensitive and intolerant skin, and this cream isn’t irritating it in any way. It has a very light consistency that makes it incredibly easy to smooth all over the face. This moisturizer sinks into the skin immediately and dries completely mat, leaving no oily residue on the face – in fact, it’s oil free. It hasn’t got any strong smell to it.

I find that this cream is perfect to use under my foundation because it absorbs really quickly into the skin leaving no greasiness at all.

I definitely recommend this moisturizer if you’re looking for a face cream with sun protection to use under your make up - or if you have combination skin and you can’t find a moisturizer with spf that is light enough.

You can find Avène products in Boots, and the Hydrance Optimale retails at £ 13.50.

MeMeMe Flawless Cream Foundation ★ Review

The foundation comes in a lightweight 30 ml plastic bottle with a pump and I find very convenient that you can see through the packaging to check how much is left. I find the design of the bottle really sophisticated and pretty. This foundation has SPF of 15, and I have it in the shade 02, 'Beige Blush', which is a perfect colour and tone match for my skin.

MeMeMe's foundation has a texture in between a liquid and a cream, and I love applying one pump of it using a buffing brush. The application is effortless, and I find that this foundation blends into the skin extremely well, giving a high amount of coverage. I personally don’t use concealer after I have applied it, because I find it covers my blemishes well and leaves an almost flawless finish.

I would say that MeMeMe's Flawless Foundation has a semi-mat finish. I personally love mat foundations and I always try to reach a dolly-like, opaque look for my complexion. I am aware that the make-up trends for the last couple of years have always aimed at a dewy, fresh face and it's difficult for me to find a foundation that responds to my needs. But I am absolutely satisfied with this product, plus it's non-drying, very luminous and gives the skin a velvety look.

What surprised me the most is the scent of this product. It has a vanillary, sweet fragrance that I personally love, and unlike other foundation the scent actually stays on the skin for a few hours.

The only negative side I find is that it doesn’t last very much on the skin: after 5/6 hours it starts to fade – even though I don’t have oily skin and all the foundations I have used in the past lasted me up to 10 hours with no primer underneath.

All in all, I love this foundation: it gives great coverage, a mat finish – but it's not cakey at all – and I would recommend it for any skin type.

You can find MeMeMe products  in Superdrug (although not all the branches carry this brand) at £ 12.50. I have checked out MeMeMe’s lovely website here and I am sure I will try other products from their range, because it seems MeMeMe make-up is really good quality at a fair price!

MeMeme does not test on animals, and this product is free from oil, alcohol, parabens and fragrance allergens.
